Tommy Wayne Shell, 68, of Monett, passed away Tuesday, June 7, 2011, in Cox Medical Center South, Springfield.

He was born May 9, 1943, in Marysville, Calif., the son of Woodrow and Lucille Nell (Red) Shell. On Dec. 3, 1993, in Miami, Okla., he was united in marriage to Lucille (Slate) Sprueill who survives.

Additional survivors include: two stepchildren, Jay Dee Sprueill, of Boise, Idaho, and Mary Beck, of Exeter; a sister, Betty Barker and her husband, James, of Lincoln, Calif.; six grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

He grew up and received his education in California. He served his country in the U.S. Coast Guard for three years. He was a carpenter for 18 years in California and Arkansas before moving to Seligman in January 1994. He and his wife, Lucille moved to Countryside Care Center in Monett in January of 2001. He was of the Baptist faith.

A memorial service will be held at 6 p.m., Friday at Countryside Care Center, Monett. New Site Baptist Church will conduct the services.

Cremation arrangements are under the direction of Fohn Funeral Home, Cassville.
