SW R-5 District receives grant
The Southwest R-5 School District has received a $10,000 grant from the Allen P. and Josephine B. Green Foundation. The funds will be used to purchase and install SMARTboards in four middle school classrooms.
The grant will fund a project designed to increase the availability of innovative teaching mechanisms and improve the quality of education received by Southwest School District students.
The SMARTboards will give students an opportunity to learn using a highly interactive tool that accommodates different learning styles, while also giving them access to the latest maps, weather, world events and encyclopedias.
The Allen P. and Josephine B. Green Foundation is a private foundation with $11 million in assets. The foundation is headquartered in Mexico, Mo., where the foundation was founded over 60 years ago.
