Billy "Bill" A. Houston, 77, of Cassville, passed away Monday, May 30, 2011, in his home.
He was born June 27, 1933, in Washburn, the son of Arthur Algard "Tuffy" and Wanda Adeen (Harris) Houston. On July 14, 1956, he was united in marriage to Ethel Louise Carnes, who preceded him in death. Also preceding him in death were his parents; a sister, Betty Appelhans; and a brother-in-law, Gene Appelhans.
Survivors include: one son, Gerald Houston, of Cassville; five daughters, Donna Hurst, of Cassville, Vickie Houston, of Sarasota, Fla., Billie Sapp and her husband, Tim, of Exeter, Bettie Kaye Holman, and her husband, Audy, of Cassville, and Michelle "Shelly" Doranth and her husband, Klaus, of Bradenton, Fla.; one brother, Jim Houston and his wife, JoAnn, of Clever; one sister, Pat Wade and her husband, Farrell, of Springfield; 17 grandchildren; and two great- grandchildren.
He grew up in Washburn and received his education at Southwest School. He was a life-long resident of Barry County. For several years, he drove a truck for Tyson Foods where he received recognition by Don Tyson for over one million miles driven without an accident.
Funeral services were held Saturday in Fohn Funeral Home, Cassville. Brother Steve Higgs conducted the services. Burial was at Horner Cemetery, Cassville.
