Ronald Lee Creek, 74, of Eagle Rock passed away on Wednesday, May 25, 2011, in his home. He was born Oct. 23, 1936, in Webster City, Iowa, to John Henry and Zetta (Norton) Creek. He graduated from high school in 1955 in Eagle Grove, Iowa. In the mid 1960s, he began his career as a firefighter. In 1977, he left the fire department and moved to Harvey, La., where on April 30, 1983, he married Carol Ronsonette. In 1991, they moved to Carpentersville, Ill., where he began serving as fire chief with the Carpentersville-Countryside Fire Department. He and Carol moved to Eagle Rock in 1997. In 1998, they became volunteers for the Eagle Rock-Golden-Mano Fire Department. In 1999, he became the fire chief. He was also instrumental in bringing 911 into Barry County and in creating the Barry County Fire Chiefs Association.
Survivors include: his wife, Carol; two sons, Steven Creek and his wife, Donna, of Eagle Rock, and Robert Creek, of Inverness, Ill.; three daughters, Susan Wilson, of Carpentersville, Ill., Ronda and her husband Doug Reynolds, of Carpentersville, Ill., and Tina Tolle, of Eagle Rock; two brothers, Richard Creek, of Webster City, Iowa, and Robert Creek, of Green Valley, Ariz.; 13 grandchildren; and 26 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, one son, Ricky Creek; one daughter, Cindy Creek; three grandchildren; two brothers; and one sister.
Memorial services will be held on Sunday, June 12, at 2 p.m. at the Eagle Rock Community Building on Highway 86 in Eagle Rock with Jim Clay officiating.
