White, Roller compete at state golf tourneys
Cassville's Evan White finished 52nd in the state golf tournament in Bolivar at Silo Ridge Country Club last week.
A total of 90 of the state's top golfers competed in the Class 3 state tournament over two days. White shot 90 on the first day and then tallied 80 on the second day.
"Evan did a great job of hanging in there and staying focused after day one," said Coach Lance Parnell. "He played really well on day two to move up several places.
"Evan has had a very good junior year, and I look forward to him having back next year," added Coach Parnell.
Purdy's Roller finishes 48th
Purdy's Phillip Roller finished 48th out of 91 golfers in the Class 1 state golf tournament at Sedalia Country Club in Sedalia on Tuesday.
Roller, a sophomore, recorded an 86 on the first day of competition and a 90 on day two.
"Phillip has put together two great years of golf while at Purdy," said Coach Grant Young. "He has a tremendous up side to his game. Phillip will continue to improve and could challenge for a state title."
Roller also qualified for the state tournament as a freshman. This season he helped the Eagles clinch the school's first district title in golf.
"Phillip is a hard worker," said Young. "His best golf is still in front of him as long as he continues to put effort into his training."
