"Bat Out Cancer" tourney planned

Tyson Foods is hosting the inaugural "Bat Out Cancer" youth baseball and softball tournament at Monett's North Park complex on Saturday, June 25.

All proceeds from the event will benefit Relay For Life and the American Cancer Society.

Teams will be competing in the following boys and girls divisions: 8-and under coach's pitch softball; 8-and-under machine baseball; 10-and-under, 12-and-under, 14-and-under, 16-and-under and 18-and-under fastpitch softball; 10-and-under, 12-and-under, 14-and-under and 16-and-under baseball; and adult men's and co-ed slow pitch.

The tournament will be held in a round robin format. Awards will be given for first and second place in each division.

The entry fee is $125 per team with a three-game guarantee.
