Stella "Colleen" Alcozar, 79, of Shell Knob, passed away Friday, May 20, 2011, at her home.

She was born in Grant Township, Cowley County, Kan., on Dec. 30, 1931, the daughter of Frank and Hazel (Palmer) Phillips. On Jan. 29, 1972, she was united in marriage to David Martinez Alcozar, who survives.

Additional survivors include: two sons, Richard Foster and his wife, Delia, of Miami, Fla., and Marc Foster, of Cedarvale, Kan.; one daughter, Terrie Lucas and her husband, Joe, of Sierra Vista, Ariz.; one sister, Rose Hickman, of Arkansas City, Kan.; six grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

Preceding her in death were her parents, one brother and three sisters.

She graduated from Dexter High School in Dexter, Kan. She was a mail carrier for the United States Postal Service in California. She was the first female mail carrier in the State of California. she moved to Shell Knob from Sierra Vista, Ariz., in 1990. She was of the Baptist faith.

A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday in Holy Family Catholic Church, Shell Knob, under the direction of Fohn Funeral Home, Shell Knob. Father David Miller will conduct the services.

Contributions may be made to the American Parkinson Association or Shell Knob Senior Center Home Delivered Meals in her memory.
