Roaring River State Park will host an open house at the Emory Melton Inn and Conference Center River View Room at 6 p.m. on Thursday, May 19.
"This is a good opportunity for the park staff, as well as the Missouri Department of Conservation and our concessionaire, MO Parks, Inc., to share with the public anything new they are working on or to talk about any changes that have been made in the last year," said Dusty Reid, park superintendent. "It is also an excellent opportunity for our guests and park users to give us input on issues they may be concerned with or ideas they may have."
Park staff members will share information on activities and improvements at both Roaring River State Park and Big Sugar Creek State Park near Pineville.
Some of the improvements completed at Roaring River this year include a partial roof replacement at Camp Smokey and several stewardship projects.
"This year we will highlight the work of the State Park Youth Corps, the CCC (Civilian Conservation Corps) reunion and the completion of the four-plex renovation," said Reid. "We will also discuss future park projects and upcoming special events."
Attendees will be invited to ask questions and make comments on park facilities and services. The annual open house event is held to ensure members of the community have the opportunity to give feedback on services provided by state parks and historic sites.
