Cassville runners head to sectionals

The Bolivar boys won the Class 3 District 6 Track and Field Championships at Carl Junction on Saturday, rolling up a total of 113.5 points. Cassville was sixth with 54.

The Wildcats had some outstanding performances on Saturday afternoon.

Josh Lewright won the 100-meter dash in 11.25 and placed third in the 200 in 23.17.

Cody Frana placed second in both hurdle events, running 15.68 in the highs and 43.65 in the 300s.

The Wildcats qualified one relay team to sectionals. The 4x200 meter quartet of Frana, Lewright, Devin Linenbrink and Hayden Prater placed second in 1:33.85.

Lewright was fifth in the triple jump. Josh Lannum placed sixth in the discus, and Garrett Mahurin was sixth in the shot. Linenbrink finished seventh in the long jump, and Trevor Shumaker was seventh in the 100-meter dash.

Cassville girls results

The host Lady Bulldogs of Carl Junction won the girls district title, scoring 93.4 points. Cassville finished 11th with 31.2.

Jessica Barrientos raced to second in the 1,600-meter run with a time of 5:56.12. She also placed seventh in the 3,200-meter event.

Calisia Brookes nabbed a sectional spot, placing fourth in the 100-meter dash in 13.36.

The Lady Wildcats placed first in the 4x100 meter relay and fourth in the 4x200 meter relay. The team of Brookes, Reba Dupont, Risa Darveaux and Danielle Pianalto posted times of 52.84 and 1:53.21 in those events

Becca Haney was seventh in the pole vault.

Qualifying athletes move on to the Class 3 sectional meet at Marshfield on Saturday.
