Doyle Dan Angel, 79, of Cassville, passed away Wednesday, May 11, 2011, in his home.
He was born April 25, 1932, in Scott County, Ark., the son of Ed and Edna (Blalock) Angel. On June 7, 1958, in Independence he was united in marriage to Elsie Etta Barnett, who preceded him in death on Dec. 28, 2005. Also preceding him in death were his parents and one brother, Joe Angel.
Survivors include: one son, Dan Angel and his wife, Allison, of Cassville; one daughter, Janice Avant and her husband, Steve, of Elizabeth, Colo.; four grandchildren; three brothers, Bill Angel, of Little Rock, Ark., Gerald Angel, of Hot Springs, Ark., and Charles Angel, of Hot Springs, Ark.; and six sisters Linda Davis, of Parks, Ark., Elois Young, of Waldron, Ark., Louise Willsey, of Waldron, Ark., Ann VanDeWiele, of Tulsa, Okla., Pat Keener, of Parks, Ark., and Lisa Godfrey of Waldron, Ark.
He grew up and received his education in Arkansas, and graduated from Waldron High School. During the Korean War, he joined the United States Air Force on Jan. 18, 1952, and was honorably discharged on Jan. 17, 1956. For 38 years he worked for Safeway Grocery Stores, retiring as a meat merchandiser. In 1998, he moved to Cassville to make his home and be near his son and his family.
Funeral services were held Saturday in Fohn Funeral Home, Cassville. Pastor Doyle Russell conducted the services.
