White is headed to state

Cassville's Evan White qualified for the state golf tournament with a top 12 finish at the sectional tournament held in Marshfield on May 4.

White, a CHS junior, shot a 79 to tie for 12th place overall and advance to state, which will take place May 16 and 17 in Bolivar. This will be White's second trip to state.

Parker Stumpff also competed at sectionals, shooting a very strong 83. His score placed him just shy of state qualification.

"Both Evan and Parker played well," said Coach Lance Parnell.

To advance to the sectional tournament, Stumpff and White finished among the top 15 golfers at districts.

Both golfers shot an 88, which tied them for seventh overall. As a result of their play, Stumpff and White both earned All-District honors.

Other Cassville golfers results at the district tournament were as follows: Wil LeCompte, 100, 25th; Roper Hayward, 101, 29th; and Brady Pry, 110, 36th.

"It was a tough day," said Coach Parnell. "The scores were much higher than anticipated.
