Commission, E-911 Board await legal recommendations

Thursday, May 5, 2011

The Barry County Commission and the Barry County Emergency Services Board are awaiting recommendations from legal counsel regarding Judge Neal Quitno's ruling in favor of the City of Monett in the tax increment financing (TIF) lawsuit.

"Our legal counsel has not had time to review the decision and make a recommendation," said Cherry Warren, Barry County presiding commissioner. "I think it would be premature for us to make a decision before counsel gives us direction."

The Barry County Emergency Services Board plans to hold a closed session to review legal options on Thursday, May 5.

"Our board will meet to review our legal and financial options," said Jon Horner, Barry County Emergency Services Board president. "Once we have had an opportunity to review the ruling with our legal counsel, we will discuss with the public the various financial scenarios facing Barry County E-911 as a result of the ruling in the TIF lawsuit."
