Get ready for a smashing good time as Gizmo's Event Center is planning to host a demolition derby at 7 p.m. on Friday, May 6 and Saturday, May 7 in Wheaton.
Friday will see stock and modified tough trucks race figure eights. The demolition derby will take place on Saturday.
Gates open at 5 p.m., and cost for all entries is $25. Cash and trophies will be awarded to winners. Bobby Arms and Denzil Arms will officiate.
Tickets are $10 per adult with children ages 12 and under admitted free with a paid adult.
Tickets will also be sold for those wishing to take a sledge hammer to a pink car to pound, smash, bash and beat up on cancer.
In the event of rain, the derby will be held at 1 p.m. on Sunday, May 8.
Entertainer and performer Charlie Daniels has donated a signed fiddle to help raise funds for the Power of Pink.
"Daniels is a big supporter of the Power of Pink," said Janice McCracken, co-owner and organizer of local Power of Pink fundraisers. "Tickets for a chance to win the fiddle will be available at every venue at the Event Center until Aug. 20."
Winner of the fiddle will be announced at the Professional Rodeo Cowboys Association (PRCA) rodeo taking place at the Event Center on Aug. 20.
A portion of the proceeds from the Demolition Derby event will benefit the Power of Pink, a fundraising campaign to help local women with breast cancer. Four local women, Christi Eden, Cassville, Marge Curtis, Pierce City, Debbie Henderson, Butterfield, and Amy Garner, Cassville, have been chosen this year to receive funds raised locally.
Gizmo's Event Center is located on South Highway 86 in Wheaton.
