Retha Jean Brattin, 74, of the Ridgley and Wheaton area, passed away Saturday, April 23, 2011, in Benchmark Healthcare of Monett, in Monett.

She was born Jan. 22, 1937, in Exeter, the daughter of Charlie and Christine (Ellis) Mattingley. She was united in marriage to Pete Brattin, who preceded her in death. Also preceding her in death were her parents.

Survivor include: three children, Ray Brattin, of Powell; Diana Brattin, of Ridgley, and Dayton Brattin, of Washburn; one sister, Sharon Kay Harper, of Neosho; and five grandchildren.

She grew up in Exeter and received her education at Exeter and Cassville, graduating from Cassville High School. For 19 years, she was employed with Fasco in Cassville and had worked for the Garment Factory and the Shoe Factory for awhile. She and Pete also owned and operated a gas station in Wheaton. She was a member of Ridgley Baptist Church.

Funeral services were held today (Wednesday) in McQueen Funeral Home, Wheaton. Pastor Dayton Brattin and Pastor Danny Heupel conducted the services. Burial was at Muncie Chapel Cemetery, Wheaton.
