CHS golfers are off and swinging

Determination and drive Democrat Photo Connor Redmon competed in the Cassville Invitational golf tournament last Thursday. Playing for the JV squad, Redmon finished in 30th place, shooting 96.

The 2011 Cassville Wildcats golf season is in full swing.

Last Thursday, the CHS squad finished second out of 11 teams in their own tournament held at the Cassville Golf Course.

Evan White was the Wildcats' top medalist, finishing in second place with a score of 79 behind Monett's Jacob Fair who shot a 74.

Other top finishers for Cassville were: Parker Stumpff, sixth, 83; Roper Hayward, 14th, 87; Zane LeCompte, 23rd, 92; and Wil LeCompte, 25th, 94.

Purdy also competed at the Cassville meet, finishing in sixth place a team score of 365. Phillip Roller medaled in 10th place with an 84. Other Purdy scores were as follows: Devan Keeler, 20th, 90; Brady Wormington, 26th, 94; Alex Haworth, 32nd, 97; and Garen Nelson, 36th, 100.

Other recent meets

At the Carl Junction Bird Dog Tournament on April 4, the Wildcats finished fourth out of 13-team field. Stumpff led Cassville in 19th place with an 83. Hayward shot a 91 followed by Wil LeCompte with a 102, Connor Redmon with a 110 and Brady Pry with a 106

On April 5 at Lamar, the Cassville varsity team finished third with a score of 175. Evan White was Cassville's top golfer with a 42 followed by Stumpff and Wil LeCompte with 43s. Zane LeCompte finished with a 47 and Hayward shot a 52.

The Wildcats traveled to Miami, Okla., for a 16-team tournament on March 28.

Cassville finished in the middle of the pack in ninth place. Stumpff had a strong outing, shooting an 80 for 12th place. Other Cassville golfers scored as follows: Zane LcCompte, 90, 37th; Hayward, 92, 46th; Wil LeCompte, 96, 55th; and Redmon, 98, 56th.
