Virgil M. Karns, 89, of Cassville, passed away Wednesday, April 6, 2011, in his home.
He was born Nov. 12, 1921, in Englevale, Kan., the son of Marion H. and Ollie (Jumet) Karns. On April 30, 1986, in Ft. Scott, Kan., he was united in marriage to Pamela Storbeck, who survives.
Additional survivors include: two sons, Eric Karns, of Cassville, and Kurt Karns and his wife, Celvina, of San Diego, Calif.; four daughters, Kelly Karns, Kerry Karns, Karlee Karns and Jodi Karns, all of Cassville; a brother, Merle Karns and his wife, Pat, of Wichita, Kan.; two sisters, Donna Hinderliter, of Tulsa, Okla., and Shirley Brunk, of Carthage; and two grandchildren.
Preceding him in death were his parents; a brother, Ethridge Karns; and a sister, Beverly Warner.
He grew up and received his education in Kansas, where he graduated from high school. During World War II, he served in the United States Army. Much of his life was spent in California where he was a real estate agent. Twenty-five years ago, he moved from San Francisco, Calif., to Cassville to make his home.
No services are scheduled at this time. Cremation arrangements are under direction of Fohn Funeral Home, Cassville.
Burial will be later in Missouri Veterans Cemetery, Springfield.
