Urban Joseph "T" Tiemeyer, 86, of Shell Knob, passed away Thursday, March 17, 2011.

He was born July 18, 1924, in Murdock, Kan., the son of John Clement Tiemeyer and Catherine (Tenbarge) Tiemeyer. He served in the United States Navy during World War II. After serving his country and being a devout Catholic, he joined the Knights of Columbus. On Oct. 26, 1948, he was united in marriage to Theresa Goulart in Mt. Vernon, Kan. He worked in road construction and farming. In 1980, he and his wife moved to Shell Knob, where he helped build the Kings River Golf Course. After constructing the golf course, he started golfing at age 69.

Survivors include: his wife of 63 years, Theresa; four children, Alfred (Pam) Tiemeyer, of Cheney, Kan., Gwen Tiemeyer, of Portland, Ore., Ken (Tracy) Tiemeyer, of Strasburg, Va., and Jackie (Mike) Ceccanti, of Portland, Ore., and Shell Knob; nine grandchildren; and three great- grandchildren; one brother, Fr Bertram Tiemeyer OFM in Manila, Philippines; and one sister, Lucille Spain, of Great Bend, Kan.

Preceding him in death were: a daughter, Sherrie; and his brothers, Ray Tiemeyer, Norbert Tiemeyer and Alfred Tiemeyer.

Funeral services were held today (Wednesday) in Holy Family Catholic Church, Shell Knob, under direction of Fohn Funeral Home, Shell Knob. Father David Miller conducted the services. Knights of Columbus and VFW services were held.

Memorial services will be at 2:30 p.m. Thursday in St. Rose Church, Mt. Vernon, Kan. Burial with military honors will be in St. Rose Cemetery in Mt. Vernon, Kan.
