Wilma M. Gray, 91, of Springfield, passed away on March 17, 2011, at St. John's Hospital. She was born on Aug. 3, 1919, in Butterfield. She attended and graduated from Butterfield High School. Later she earned a bachelor of science degree in elementary education from Southwest Missouri State University and a master's degree from the University of Missouri.

She was a school teacher in Barry county rural schools, and in Butterfield, Cassville, Neosho and Springfield, for a total of 42 years. In 1983, she retired from Roundtree School in Springfield.

In 1995, she received an Outstanding Lifetime Achievement Award at the Annual Springfield Teacher Appreciation Banquet. She was a member of South Haven Baptist Church in Springfield.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Walter and Bertha Gray.

Survivors include: her sister, Dr. Wanda Gray, of Springfield; and her sister and brother-in-law, Colleen and J.D. McBride, of Newtonia.

Funeral services were on Tuesday at Greenlawn South Funeral Home, Springfield. memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer's Association. Arrangements were by Greenlawn Funeral Home South Springfield.
