Elmer C. "Mac" McDaniel, 89, of El Dorado, Kan., passed away Friday, March 11, 2011. Services were will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, March 17 at the First Southern Baptist Church, Augusta, Kan. Burial will follow at Elmwood Cemetery.
He was born in Dill City, Okla., on Oct. 25, 1921, the son of the late Marion Herman and Millia (Lemaster) McDaniel. He was also preceded in death by his first wife, Doris; brothers, Leon, Paul, Carl and Jay Dee; a sister, Edith Kennedy; son, Danny; and a granddaughter, Kelli McDaniel.
He retired as a carpenter from WSU and was a farmer. He also served in the U.S. Army Air Force during WW II.
He is survived by: wife, Charlene, formerly of Barry County; sons, Jack McDaniel and wife, Susan, of Augusta, Kan.; Ron Ray and wife, Wilma, of El Dorado, Kan.; and Mike Ray and wife, Sarah, of Augusta, Kan.; daughter, Deon Markley and husband, Gerald, of Augusta, Kan.; sister, Ruth Taylor, of Lockesburg, Ark.; seven grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.
Memorials may be made to the First Southern Baptist Church of Augusta, Kan., or Gideon's International.
