Ronald Ray Whitely, 54, of Purdy, passed away Tuesday, March 1, 2011, in Cox Medical Center South, Springfield.

He was born July 23, 1956, in Nashville, Tenn., the son of William Ray Whitely and Shirley (Jenkins) Whitely. On July 23, 2010, he was united in marriage to April Lynn Werneburg, who survives.

Additional survivors include: two stepsons, William Werneburg, of Princeville, Ill., and Justin Werneburg, of Missouri; a stepdaughter, Brandy Werneburg, of Princeville, Ill., and a sister, Donna Whitely, of Michigan; and two step-grandchildren, Cameron Doran and Issach Draper, of Princeville, Ill.

Preceding him in death were his parents.

He spent his younger years in Tulsa, Okla. In 2010, he moved to Illinois, where he was employed as a forklift operator for Seneca Canning Factory. Four months ago, he and his wife moved to Purdy to make their home.

No services are scheduled at this time. Cremation arrangements are under direction of Fohn Funeral Home, Cassville.
