Mary Geneva Townsend, 90, of Cassville, passed away Tuesday, Jan. 18, 2011, in Red Rose Health and Rehabilitation Center, Cassville.
She was born July 26, 1920, in Greenbrier, Ark., the daughter of Fred and Susie (Noe) Thomas. On Feb. 19, 1943, in Little Rock, Ark., she was united in marriage to Robert W. "Bob" Townsend, who preceded her in death on Feb. 15, 2010. Also preceding her in death were her parents.
Survivors include: two daughters, Barbara "Bobbie" Tucker and her husband, Byron, of Cassville, and Anna "Betsy" O'Neal and her husband, Joe, of Kansas City; three grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
She grew up and received her education in Arkansas, graduating from Greenbrier High School. During World War II, she worked in the Defense Plant in Little Rock, Ark. Thirty-three years ago, they moved to Cassville to make their home. She did a lot of private baby sitting throughout the years. She was a member of Cassville United Methodist Church, Cassville, where she and Bob were custodians for several years.
Funeral services were held Friday in Cassville United Methodist Church, under direction of Fohn Funeral Home, Cassville. Rev. Lee Porch and Rev. Don Beeson conducted the services. Burial was at Maplewood Cemetery, Exeter.
