Marjorie Lucille Massey, age 91, of Eagle Rock, Missouri, passed away Saturday, January 1, 2011, in her son's home in Eagle Rock.
She was born June 9, 1919, in Geyser, Montana, the daughter of Hugh Allen and Cleda Fern (Lowe) Best. On December 20, 1941, in San Antonio, Texas, she was united in marriage to George G. Massey, who preceded her in death on September 27, 1993. Also preceding her in death were her parents, a son, George Massey, Jr.; two sisters, Janet and Kathryn; and a brother, Floyd.
Surviving are: one son, Robert (Bob) Massey and his wife, Jan, of Eagle Rock, Missouri; one daughter, Mary Ann James and Jim Bryant, of Eagle Rock, Missouri; one brother, Bob Best, of Omaha, Nebraska; two sisters, Shirley Cohn, of Nebraska City, Nebraska, and Beverly Snyder, of North Bend, Nebraska; six grandsons; and 15 great-grandchildren.
Marjorie grew up and received her education in North Bend, Nebraska, where she graduated from high school. After their marriage she and George resided in Nebraska, where she owned and operated the L & M Cafe. In 1962, they moved to Cassville, Missouri, from Nebraska City, eventually settling in Shell Knob, Missouri. For several years she was employed as a case worker in the Cassville office of Division of Family Services, retiring in 1975. After the death of her husband, she moved to Eagle Rock to make her home. She was a member of First Baptist Church in Golden.
Graveside services were held at 1 p.m. Tuesday, January 4, 2011, in Oak Hill Cemetery, Cassville, under direction of Fohn Funeral Home, Cassville. Brother Bob Neeley conducted the services.
Casket bearers were her grandsons, Jackie James, Travis James, Jerry James, Shawn Massey, Brad Massey and Trent Massey.
The family received friends from 6 until 7 p.m. Monday in Fohn Funeral Home, Cassville
