Agnes Elizabeth Katherine Cooper, 92, of Golden, passed away at her home Friday, Dec. 17, 2010.

She was born July 30 1918, in Colorado Springs, Colo., the daughter of John Michael and Mary Frances (Sullivan) Higgins. On March 30, 1940, in Colorado Springs, she was united in marriage to Fred G. Cooper.

Surviving are her husband of over 70 years, Fred; and one sister, Ellen Quigley, of Glenwood Springs, Colo. Preceding her in death were her parents, three brothers, Dan Higgins, John Higgins, and Ed Higgins and one sister, Mary Higgins.

She grew up and received her education in Colorado Springs, Colo. She attended St. Mary's Catholic Grade School and graduated in the Class of 1937 from Colorado Springs High School. For 10 years, she worked in the children's room at the Colorado Springs Library. Fred and Agnes moved to Golden in 1947 to make their home. She became very active in her church and the community. She served as head of Mark Twain Extension Club in Golden for many years. She was a member of Holy Family Catholic Church, Shell Knob, and PCCW where she was in charge of supplies and packages sent to the lepers. Funeral Mass was held Monday in Holy Family Catholic Church, Shell Knob, under direction of Fohn Funeral Home, Shell Knob. Father David Miller officiated. Burial was at Viney Cemetery, Golden.

Contributions in her memory may be made to Berryville, Ark., St. John's Hospice in care of the funeral home.
