Gladys Cleo (Smalley) House, 94, of Exeter, passed away Saturday, Nov. 27, 2010, at Red Rose Health and Rehabilitation Center, Cassville.

She was born July 13, 1916, near Cassville, the daughter of William "Bill" and Myra (Willard) Smalley. On Sept. 1, 1936, she was united in marriage to Gene Charles House, who preceded her in death Jan. 6, 1977. Also preceding her in death were her parents; one son, Marvin Eugene House; and two brothers in infancy.

Survivors include: two sons, William "Eddy" House, of Webb City Health and Rehabilitation and his wife, Gina, of Florida, and James "J.D." House and his wife, Marion, of Springfield; one sister, Edna Meryl Painter, of Cassville; six grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

She grew up and received her education at Cassville, where she graduated from high school in 1934. For one year, she taught rural school at Mt. Sinai before becoming a beautician. She owned and operated her beauty shop at Exeter for over 50 years. She was an active, dedicated and long-time member of Exeter Baptist Church prior to joining First Baptist Church in Cassville. She taught piano for many years.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday in Fohn Funeral Home, Cassville. Rev. James Weaver will conduct the services. Burial will be in Maplewood Cemetery, Exeter.

The family will receive friends from 1 p.m. until service time Friday in Fohn Funeral Home, Cassville.
