Schools to honor veterans

Friday, November 12, 2010

Area veterans will have the opportunity to be honored for their service at several Veterans Day events that are being planned throughout the Barry County area next week.

Cassville High School will be hosting its annual Veterans Day Assembly and reception at 9 a.m. on Thursday, Nov 11 in the CHS gymnasium.

The event will feature involvement from a large number of different student groups. Cassville FFA members will be escorting veterans to their special seating area in the gym, and the Cassville Student Council will host a reception following the assembly.

The Veterans Day program will include performances by the CHS Band and Choir, dramatic readings by speech and debate students and the reading of winning Veterans Day essays. A uniform display will greet veterans and community members as they enter the gym.

The CHS assembly is open to the public, and all community members, especially veterans, are invited to attend. Veterans in attendance will receive special recognition.
