James Earl "Jim" Goade, 72, of Cassville, passed away Friday, Oct. 29, 2010, in Barry County Care Center, Cassville.
He was born in Cassville on Sept. 7, 1938, the son of William and ClorAnna (Pruitt) Goade. On June 21, 1959, in the First Baptist Church, Cassville, he was united in marriage to Donna Sue Dryer, who preceded him in death on Aug. 26, 2002. He was also preceded in death by his parents.
Survivors include: three sons, Joe Goade and his wife Brigitte, of Dyersburg, Tenn., Mark Goade, of Cassville, and Vernon Starks, of Conway, Ark.; one brother, Jerry Goade, of Grain Valley; two sisters, Shirley Burris, of Kansas City, and Barbara Crabtree, of Lebanon; six grandchildren; and one great- granddaughter.
He graduated from Raytown High School. He worked as a meat cutter in his early years in Kansas City and then was a store manager for J.C. Penney. In 1975, he and Donna opened Goade's Family Shoe Store in McPherson, Kan., which they operated until 1983. They moved to Mesquite, Texas, where they both took supervisor positions with Swif-T Convenience Stores until 1991 when they moved to Cassville to make their home. He continued his career at Fasco Industries and worked until his retirement in 2004.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m, Saturday, Nov. 6, 2010, in Fohn Funeral Home, Cassville. Rev. James Weaver will conduct the services. Burial will be in Oak Hill Cemetery, Cassville.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday in Fohn Funeral Home, Cassville.
