Dorothy Maye Brooks, 71, of Cassville, passed away Wednesday, Oct. 27, 2010, in St. John's Regional Health Center, Springfield.
She was born Sept. 24, 1939, in Cassville, the daughter of Jack and Ethel (Smith) Barrett. On June 1, 1957, she was united in marriage to Marland Brooks. She is survived by Charles Simpson, of the home; one son, Thomas Brooks and his wife, Stephanie, of Butterfield; one daughter, Carrie Brooks, of Springfield; four stepsons, Chuck Simpson, of Kansas, Norm Simpson and his wife, Sara, of Rogers, Ark., Walt Simpson, of Colorado, and Mouse Simpson, of Colorado; one sister, Donnis Daniels, of Pea Ridge, Ark.; four grandchildren; and several step-grandchildren.
Preceding her in death were her parents; her husband, Marlan; one daughter, Carol Eaton; four sisters; and one brother.
She grew up and received her education at Cassville. She spent most of her adult life in Colorado, retiring back to Cassville in 1996. For several years, she was a cashier for Chet's Grocery Store. She attended Oak Ridge Baptist Church.
Funeral services were held Saturday in Fohn Funeral Home, Cassville. Pastor Larry Henbest conducted the services. Burial was at Mineral Springs Cemetery, Cassville.
