Marietta Angeline Lank, 92, of Shell Knob, passed away Sunday, Oct. 17, 2010, in Cox Medical Center South, Springfield.

She was born Jan. 24, 1918, in Wichita, Kan., the daughter of Joseph R. and Jessie May (Davis) Balch. On Nov. 26, 1936, in Wichita, Kan., she was united in marriage to Clarence J. Lank, who preceded her in death after 49 years of marriage. Also preceding her in death were her parents; one brother, Steve; and two sisters, Kathryn and Lois.

Survivors include: three sons, Galen Lank and his wife, Ruth, of Meridian, Miss., Lloyd Lank and his wife, Catherine, of Overland Park, Kan., and Errol Lank and his wife, Claudette, of Leon, Kan.; six grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.

She grew up and received her education in Wichita, Kan., where she graduated from high school. For several years, she was a secretary for the Kansas Turnpike Authority. Before their retirement, every weekend she and Clarence would include a trip to Shell Knob to spend time at their cabin on Table Rock Lake. After retiring, she made a permanent move and built a house on her favorite place overlooking the beautiful lake. She became very active in the community and at age 75 became a general class amateur radio operator. She was known as "General Mom." She was a member of the SOLOS and Central Community United Methodist Church.

Memorial services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday in Central Community United Methodist Church, Shell Knob, under direction of Fohn Funeral Home, Shell Knob. Rev. Teressa Clyde will conduct the services. Burial will be at a later date in Udall Cemetery, Udall, Kan.
