Robert Lee "Bob" or "Pappy" Long, 86, of Lampe, passed away Tuesday, Oct. 12, 2010, in Table Rock Health Care in Kimberling City.

He was born Sept. 7, 1924, in Oklahoma, the son of William Leroy and Nita Jane (Davis) Long. In December1969, in Liberty, he was united in marriage to Doris Jean Gaddis, who survives.

Additional survivors include: his children, Billy Bob Long, of Lampe, Barbara L of Texas, Sheila Cranford, of Cold Spring, Texas, Linda Jennings and her husband, Larry, of Cassville, Sharon Burton and her husband, John, of Vian, Okla., and Shirley Stegall and her husband, Danny, of Kansas City; 17 grandchildren; and several great-grandchildren.

Preceding him in death were his parents; one daughter, Sharon Kingsley; three sons, Virgil Long, Leroy Long and Robert Moore; and three brothers, Rule Long, O.A. Brown and Oran Brown.

He grew up and received his education in Oklahoma. During World War II, he joined the United States Army and also served in the Korean War. He and Doris moved to Lampe in the early 1970s to make their home. He was a life member of the Shell Knob VFW Post # 2203.

Graveside services with military honors were held at 2 Friday in Lake Park Memorial Gardens, Shell Knob, under direction of Fohn Funeral Home, Shell Knob. Rev. Tony Ball conducted the services.
