Jessie Richard "Jay" Chambers, 74, of Monett, passed away Thursday, Oct. 14, 2010, at his home.
He was born Nov. 14, 1935, in Crane, the son of Link and Dora (Mounce) Chambers. On Dec. 31, 1979, in Monett, he was united in marriage to Norma L. McPherson, who survives.
Additional survivors include: one son, Richard Chambers and his wife, Hope, of Mt. Vernon; two daughters, Denise Leach and her husband, Ken, of Cape Fair, and Janet Thompson and her husband, David, of Aurora; one stepson, Galen Hall and his wife, Mary, of Monett; two stepdaughters, Rowena Spears and her husband, Chuck, of Monett, and Regina Vineyard, of Verona; one brother, Gary Chambers, of Crane; two sisters, Charlene Jones, of Marionville, and Cheryl Kelly, of Crane; 10 grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Linkford Chambers; three sisters, Frances Higgins, Beatrice Simpson and Susan Compton; and one granddaughter.
He grew up and received his education at Crane. He served his country in the United States Army and returned back to Missouri where he has been a life-long resident. He was a supervisor for Tyson Foods until his retirement in 1989.
Graveside services with military honors were held Tuesday at IOOF Cemetery, Monett, under the direction of Fohn Funeral Home, Cassville.
