The Cassville Wildcat soccer team hosted Aurora last Tuesday night and fought to a 3-1 win.
The Wildcats took a 1-0 lead in the first half on an unassisted goal by BJ McGuffey. Aurora answered and was able to tie the game at 1-1.
Just before halftime, Diego Ortega scored his first varsity goal for Cassville and put the Wildcats ahead 2-1. Ortega's goal would prove to be the game winner. Corey Sanders added an insurance goal with 10 minutes remaining in the game to make the final score 3-1.
On Thursday, Cassville faced off against regionally-ranked Carthage and suffered a 7-0 loss.
"We played very well, and even though we were outmatched 7-0, it was by all measures a good loss against Carthage," said Coach Brian Wilbanks.
The Wildcats are scheduled to host Carl Junction this Thursday and New Covenant next Tuesday before traveling to Webb City on Thursday.
