David Lawrence Roder, 69, of Verona, passed away Thursday, Sept. 16, 2010, at the St. John's Hospital in Springfield. He was born on Oct. 20, 1940, in Verona, the son of George C. and Frances R. (Hierholzer) Roder.
He lived in Verona his entire life and graduated from Verona High School in 1958. He worked as a field supervisor for Willow Brooks Foods and retired in 2008. He was a member of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church and was a 3rd and 4th Degree Knight for the Knights of Columbus. On Feb. 6, 1965, he married Patricia C. Abramovitz in Pulaskifield.
Survivors include: his wife of 45 years, Patricia, of the home; one daughter, Angie Madison and her husband, Terry, of Monett; three grandchildren; two sisters, Myra Merritt, of Bettendorf, Iowa, and Joan Squibb, of Springfield; and one brother, Donald Roder, of Aurora. His parents and son, Gregory C. Roder, preceded him in death.
A funeral mass, under the direction of the Crafton-Cantrell Funeral Home, was held Tuesday at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Verona. burial followed at the Calvary Cemetery in Verona.
