Ida Whisman Cooper, 96, of Shell Knob, passed away Wednesday, Sept. 8, 2010, in Red Rose Health and Rehabilitation Center, Cassville.

She was born July 17, 1914, just south of Old Shell Knob. She was the youngest child of Joel and Sarah "Ledgerwood" Whisman.

On July 9, 1932, she married Arl Cooper, and to this union three children were born, Arlene, Don and Penny.

She was active in the Baptist Church in Shell Knob, she was the clerk for the Shell Knob School for a number of years and both she and Arl drove a school bus for the Shell Knob School. After Arl passed away on March 24, 1971, Ida worked as a cook for the school.

Survivors include: her daughter, Arlene, and son-in-law Sanford Garland, of Shell Knob; her son, Don, and daughter-in-law Sonja Cooper of Shell Knob, and daughter Penny, and son-in-law Phil Bailey, of Golden; seven grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and eight great-great-grandchildren.

Funeral services were held Monday in Shell Knob First Baptist Church under direction of Fohn Funeral Home, Shell Knob. Burial was at Painter Cemetery, Shell Knob.
