James "Mac" McLeod, 94, of Cassville, passed away Sunday, Sept. 12, 2010, in Barry County Care Center, Cassville.
He was born April 14, 1916, in Osage City, Kan., the son of James McLeod, Sr., and Jennie Lind (Miles) McLeod. He married his first wife, Mary, who preceded him in death on Dec. 2, 1980. Later he married Kathy, who also preceded him in death. Mac and Mary had one son, Robert James "Bob" McLeod. Bob passed away on Sept. 9, 2000.
He received his education in Osage City, Kan., where he graduated from high school. He received his bachelor's and master's degree at Emporia State University in Emporia, Kan. In 1936, he moved to Kansas City. During World War II, he entered the United States Army, serving from May 5, 1942, until his discharge as Staff Sergeant on Feb. 26, 1946. He was a safety director for the United States Government from which he retired. In 1983, he moved from Kansas City to Cassville to make his home.
Graveside services with military honors will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday in Shawnee Mission Memory Gardens, Shawnee Mission, Kan., under direction of Fohn Funeral Home, Cassville. Rev. Paul Yarnall will conduct the services.
The family will receive friends from 4 to 6 p.m. today (Wednesday) in Fohn Funeral Home, Cassville.
