Pool manager to take the lead at Cassville Y

Thursday, September 16, 2010

The Cassville Area Y will welcome a new facility manager on Sept. 20. Although Dove Haney is new to the position, she has been employed by the Y as Cassville Aquatic Park manager for two years.

"I have loved working as the manager of the pool," said Haney. "I really enjoy working with the community and all of the local families. I saw this as a good opportunity to continue working with the community."

Haney has a bachelor of general science from Drury University in Springfield. She also studied architecture in California for three years before she and her family relocated to Barry County 17 years ago.

In addition to serving as the Aquatic Park manager, Haney has worked as a Cassville R-4 School District substitute teacher for over four years.

"I'm really excited to work with Bob (Crouthamel, Cassville Y youth and sports director) and all of the current staff," said Haney. "There are some wonderful people who work at the Cassville facility. Plus, I will be working with an organization that does a lot to help and support our community."

In her new position, Haney will oversee daily operations at the Cassville Y. She will also be responsible for hiring coaches and instructors for sports programs, aerobics classes and other Y activities.

"We are very excited about Dove coming into this position," said Gordon Brown, Cassville and Monett Y executive director. "She is very connected to the community.

"We have worked with her for quite a few years in various areas," said Brown. "Not only has she managed the pool for the last two years, but she worked part-time for the Y in various aspects prior to that. We have seen her quality of work and care for what she does. We think she will do a great job in this position."

Over the next few weeks, Haney will complete job shadowing and other training at the Monett and Cassville facilities. She will also attend corporate meetings and complete training in Springfield.

"We have been members of the Cassville Y for over three years," said Haney. "Prior to that, my girls attended gymnastics classes at the facility.

"I have loved having a place to go to where I can work out while my children have fun stuff to do in a good, wholesome environment," said Haney. "Plus, we have spent everyday at the pool in the summertime for years."

Haney lives in Cassville with her husband, Shannon. The couple has three children, Becca, who is a junior at Cassville High School, Jessica, who is a seventh grade student at Cassville Middle School, and Shannon, who is a fourth grade student at Cassville Intermediate School. Becca also serves as a tumble and cheer coach at the Cassville Y.
