HESTER ROY "SONNY" WOODRING, JR.

Hester Roy "Sonny" Woodring, Jr., 77, of Pea Ridge, died Tuesday, August 10 at Circle of Life Hospice in Bentonville. He was born Feb. 13, 1933 at Oklahoma City, OK. to Hester Roy Woodring Sr. and Flora Madge Morris Woodring. He moved to this area in 1975 from Bethany, OK. to make his home. He was a cattle farmer in White Oak Hollo and an auto mechanic. He played banjo for the Oklahoma City Country Jubilee, played with bluegrass and country music bands in Silver Dollar City and the streets of Rogers with the War Eagle Express. He played at the Stella, Missouri Senior Citizens Center, Snow's Red Barn for many years and won many awards for his dobro picking. He was a member of the Pea Ridge Old Geezers Club and attended Lakeside Baptist Church and Winds of Worship Church both in Rogers. He is preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Barbara Woodring and two brothers, Richard and John Woodring.

Survivors are a daughter, Pam and Jerry David, of Rogers, Ark.; two sons, Wesley Woodring, of Oklahoma City, Okla., and Charles Woodring, of Greensboro, N.C.; one sister, Lou Hawley, of Bethany, Okla.; two brothers, Robert Woodring, of Bethany, Okla., and Bert Woodring, of Oklahoma City, Okla.; six grandchildren, Shawna Woodring, of Joplin, Mo., Crystal Woodring, of Carl Junction, Mo., David Woodring, of Austin, Texas, Kevin and Kristen Miller, of Bentonville, Ark., Ryan and Julia Rusch, of Fayetteville, Ark., Danielle David, of Rogers, Ark.; and numerous great-grandchildren.

A graveside service is scheduled for 10:00 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 21 at Antioch Cemetery (take 265 in Pea Ridge North 3 miles, pass Jacket bridge go 2 miles cemetery sign will be an left) with Pastor Scott Hill officiating. A fellowship of family and friends will be held 11:00 a.m. at the Snow's Red Barn following the service. Cremation arrangements are by Sisco Funeral Home in Pea Ridge.
