Geraldine May Cox, 85, of Rocky Comfort, passed away Saturday, July 24, 2010, in Barry County Care Center, Cassville.

She was born April 22, 1925, in Carson, Iowa, the daughter of George Byron and Rosa Fern (Donnelly) Mapes. On Feb. 3, 1943, in Fairview, she was united in marriage to Merle C. Cox, who preceded her in death on Aug. 10, 1996. Also preceding her in death were her parents; two sons, Carroll and Gary Cox; three brothers, Richard, Charles and Vernon Mapes; and a grandson.

Survivors include: one son, Kevin Cox and his wife, Debra, of Rocky Comfort; one daughter, Karen Wells and her husband, Jess, of Exeter; one brother, Kenneth Mapes and his wife, Myrtle, of Omaha, Neb.; three grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

She grew up and received her education in Iowa. She was a homemaker. In 1969, she moved from Iowa to Missouri to make her home. She attended Prosperity Baptist Church at Rocky Comfort and was a member of VFW Ladies Auxiliary and Rocky Comfort Extension Club.

Graveside services were held today (Wednesday) at Rocky Comfort Cemetery, under direction of McQueen Funeral Home, Wheaton. Richard Anderson conducted the services.
