Gerald C. Arnold, 79, of Lenox, Mich., formerly of Wheaton, passed away, Wednesday, July 7, 2010, in his home.
He was born March 14, 1931, in St. Louis, the son of Clifford and Lena (Lester) Arnold. In 1950, in Hot Springs, Ark., he was united in marriage to Verline Reynolds, who preceded him in death on Nov. 10, 2003. Also preceding him in death were his parents; one granddaughter; and one step-granddaughter.
Survivors include: two sons, Gerald C. Arnold, Jr., of Washington and Clifford Arnold and his wife, Christine, of Michigan; two daughters, Kathern French and her husband, David, of Connecticut, and Joyce Dickson and her husband, John, of Georgia; two brothers, Kenneth Arnold, of Missouri, and Arvil Arnold, of Louisiana; 13 grandchildren; and 18 great-grandchildren.
He attended high school at Wheaton. At the age of 15, he joined the United States Navy, retiring in 1969. He then worked for the Railroad in South Carolina, retiring from there after 15 years of employment. Around 50 years of his life was spent in South Carolina. Five and a half years ago, he moved to live with his son and daughter-in-law in Michigan. He was a member of V.F.W. and American Legion in South Carolina.
Funeral services were held today (Wednesday) in McQueen Funeral Home, Wheaton. Rev. John Arnold conducted the services. Burial with military honors was at Rocky Comfort Cemetery, Rocky Comfort.
