Elden Ray Schmidt, 77, of Golden, passed away Thursday, June 17, 2010, in St. John's Regional Health Center, Springfield.

He was born April 13, 1933, in Pierson, Iowa, the son of John Alvin and Irene (Reimenschneider) Schmidt. On May 9, 1961, in Storm Lake, Iowa, he was united in marriage to Dorthy Lottman, who survives.

Additional survivors include: one son, Aaron Schmidt, of Johnston, Iowa; two daughters, Sabra Woodridge, of Reynoldsburg, Ohio, and Kira Wauwie and her husband, M. Sal, of Mesa, Ariz.; one sister, Elaine and her husband, Carlyle Glover, of Colorado Springs, Colo.; and five grandchildren.

He grew up in Iowa and graduated from Cornell High School in Cornell, Iowa. During the Korean War, he served his country in the United States Army. He was a mail carrier for the United States Postal Service in Albert City, Iowa. In 2002, he and Dorthy moved to Golden, to retire. He was a member of the Community Lutheran Church at Eagle Rock.

A Celebration of Life was held Saturday in Grace Lutheran Church, Holiday Island, Ark. Pastor Kenneth Haydon conducted the services. A second Celebration of Life will be held in Iowa at a later date.

Cremation arrangements were under direction of Fohn Funeral Home, Cassville.
