The Cassville girls ran into stiff competition in their sprint relay preliminaries on Friday. In the 4x100 event, Calisia Brookes, Risa Darveaux, Reba Dupont and Danielle Pianalto ran within .07 of their sectional qualifying time but failed to advance to Saturday's finals.
Likewise, in the 4x200, the same quartet of Cassville girls finished 13th of the 16 teams in the prelims, running 1:49.12.
The best sprint relay team in the history of the Ladycats' program looks to build off their state experience for the 2011 season. With Darveaux only a junior, and her three counterparts all a grade younger, Cassville will be primed for a better showing next season.
