Wildcat tracksters head to sectionals

Wilson The Cassville Ladycat relay team of Danielle Pianalto, Calisia Brookes, Reba Dupont and Risa Darveaux took gold at the district track meet this past Saturday at Carl Junction. The girls were able to finish first in both the 4x100 and 4x100 relays and will compete this Saturday in sectionals to qualify for the state track meet.
The Cassville Wildcat boys track team claimed fourth place at the Class 3, District 6 track meet at Carl Junction on Saturday, and the Ladycats finished 12th overall in a field of 16 teams. West Plains won the boys' division and host Carl Junction was the girls' division winner.

Dylan Gibson earned two district championship titles for the Wildcats in the shot put and discus events. The senior strongman earned gold with a throw of 149'1" in the discus and 48'3" in the shot put. Both his throws were several feet ahead of the second place challengers.

Senior Matt Angel finished second in the high jump, clearing 6'2". Devin Linenbrink, a Wildcat junior, had a strong showing at districts, placing third in the long jump with a leap of 20'5.75" and fourth in the triple jump.

The Wildcats' 4x100 relay team also scored points at districts with a fourth place finish and a time of 45:18.

On the girls side, the Cassville Ladycats' record-setting 4x100 and 4x100 relay teams continued their track dominance. Squad members Risa Darveaux, Reba Dupont, Danielle Pianalto and Calisia Brookes won gold in both relay events, finishing the 4x200 in 1:50.28 and the 4x00 in 52.26.

The top four finishers in each event will compete at the sectional track meet at Marshfield on Saturday.
