Joel Keith Gossard, 70, of Shell Knob, passed away Monday, May 3, 2010, in St. John's Regional Health Center, Springfield, after a short battle with cancer.
He was born Aug. 31, 1939, in Denver, Colo., the son of Ted and Norma (Heald) Gossard. On April 22, 1967, in Argentine, Kan., he was united in marriage to Rita Cole, who survives.
Additional survivors include: one son and daughter-in-law Jason and Melissa Gossard, of Topeka, Kan.; one grandson; and three sisters, Pat Narron, Carlotta Sue Eckhoff and Norma Jean Woddell.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
From Nov. 5, 1958, until Oct. 24, 1960, he served in the United States Army. Much of his life was spent as a truck driver, retiring from Yellow Freight in 1999. After his retirement, he moved from Independence to Shell Knob to make his home. He was a member of Holy Family Catholic Church, Shell Knob.
No services are scheduled at this time. Cremation arrangements are under direction of Fohn Funeral Home, Shell Knob.
