David Thomas Miles, 67, of Purdy, passed away Tuesday, April 20, 2010, in Cox Medical Center South, Springfield.
He was born March 6, 1943, in Carmi, Ill., the son of Edward and Virginia (Hoover) Miles. On Oct. 9, 1978, in Omaha, Ark., he was united in marriage to Connie Fessenden, who survives.Additional survivors include: three sons, Brad Miles and his wife, Rachel, of Wheaton, Wesley Miles and his wife, Raelene, of Avilla, and Willie Miles and his fiancÚ, Laura, of Afton, Okla.; three daughters, Hallie Weaver and her husband, Chuck, of Little Elm, Texas, Abby Fohn and her husband, Justin, of Cassville, and Chloe Miles, of Little Elm, Texas; three brothers, Joe Miles, Jerry Miles and James Miles, of Nebraska; two sisters, Myra Moran, of Arkansas, and Linda Miles, of Nebraska; and eight grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
He graduated from high school in Omaha, Neb., and attended three years of college at the University of Arkansas in Fayetteville. He joined the United States Navy, serving four years, and then entered the United States Air Force, also serving four years. The next 14 years he spent in the Army National Guard. During the Vietnam War he spent two tours there. On March 6, 2003, he retired to Barry County, where he was employed with Miracle Recreation and later Kay Concrete as a truck driver.
Cremation arrangements were under direction of Fohn Funeral Home, Cassville.
