Donald Louis Kahrl, 68, of Eagle Rock, passed away Tuesday, April 13, 2010, in St. John's Regional Health Center, Springfield.
He was born Jan. 18, 1942, in Ferndale, Mich., the son of Louis R. and Guthrie (Bartley) Kahrl. On May 17, 1986, in Eureka Springs, Ark., he was united in marriage to Loretta (Pustelnik) Laycock, who survives.
Additional survivors include: two sons, Marc Allen Kahrl and his wife, Joyce, of Cincinnatus, N.Y., and Dustin Scott Kahrl and his wife, Kristina, of Holiday Island, Ark.; one stepson, Matthew Laycock, of Lincoln Park, Mich.; one stepdaughter, Lynn Laycock, of Elkton, Mich.; one brother, Tommy Kahrl, of Florida; one sister, Linda Helms, of Canton, Mich.; nine grandchildren; and one great- grandchild.
Preceding him in death were his parents and one sister, Diane.
He received his education in Redford, Mich. From Aug. 22, 1960 until April 9, 1962, he served in the United States Army. Much of his life was spent in Michigan working as a Speedway Service Station manager. In 1986, he moved to Eagle Rock to make his home. He was past-president of the Golden - Eagle Rock -- Mano Lions Club.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday in Fohn Funeral Home, Shell Knob. Pastor Jim Clay will conduct the services. Burial will be in Lake Park Memorial Garden, Shell Knob.
The family will receive friends from 1 p.m. until service time Thursday in Fohn Funeral Home, Shell Knob.
