Maxine Williams, 91, of Cassville, passed away Thursday, April 8, 2010.
She was born Aug. 16, 1918, in Mano, the daughter of William "Bill" and Samantha (Chappell) Holman. On Aug. 5, 1940, in Berryville, Ark., she was united in marriage to Monroe Williams, who preceded her in death May 15, 1999. Also preceding her in death were her parents; two brothers; four sisters; and a son-in-law, Herman Juffer.
Survivors include: one son, Al Roe Williams and his wife, Mary Margaret, of Springfield; three daughters, Mary Jane Juffer, of Frisco, Texas, Jeanie Thomas, of Lincoln, Neb., Jann Williams, of Newport Beach, Calif.; two brothers, Calvin Holman, of Cassville, and Billy Holman, of Raymore; two sisters, Iola Lordanich and Winona Synold, both of Irvine, Calif.; six grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
She received her education at Cassville, where she graduated from high school. She received her bachelor's degree in elementary education from the University of Arkansas. For 36 years, she taught in several schools throughout southwestern Missouri, many in one room rural schools in Barry County.
Funeral services were held Saturday in Fohn Funeral Home, Cassville. Rev. Emily S. Bowen and Rev. Charlie Bahn conducted the services. Burial was at Oak Hill Cemetery, Cassville.
