Cleo Marvin Ethridge, 92, of Mt. Vernon, formerly of Cassville, passed away Tuesday, March 23, 2010, in Missouri Veterans Home, Mt. Vernon.

He was born June 22, 1917, in Golden, the son of William Edward and Mary Elizabeth (Bruton) Ethridge. On Nov. 19, 1940, in Cassville, he was united in marriage to Elva I. Towler, who preceded him in death on Dec. 6, 1997. Also preceding him in death were his parents and two sons, Tommy and Marvin Ethridge.

Survivors include: five daughters, Edna Ethridge, of Springfield, Va., Mary Arnold, of Springfield, Va., Barbara Wittell, of Boise, Idaho, Dorothy King, of Boise, Idaho and Joanne Wright, of Boise, Idaho; one son, Eugene Ethridge, of Springfield, Va.; 10 grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.

He grew up and received his education near Golden. For 28 years, he was employed for Union Pacific Railroad in Boise, Idaho, retiring at the age of 55. During World War II, he entered the United States Army, serving from June 2, 1942, until Nov. 19, 1943. He was in North Africa with the 888th airborne engineers.

Graveside services were held Friday at Viney Creek Cemetery, Golden, under direction of Fohn Funeral Home, Cassville. Chaplain Michael Kanai conducted the services.
