Garold James Unruh, age 62, of Copeland, Kan., passed away Friday, March 19, 2010, at Shell Knob as a result of a utility tractor accident.
He was born June 25, 1947, in Garden City, Kan., the son of Leslie J. and Gertrude J. (Fricke) Unruh. On Dec. 10, 1967, in Copeland, Kan., he was united in marriage to Joan Loucks, who survives.
Additional survivors include: two sons, Jeffrey James Unruh and his wife, Sharleen, of Copeland, Kan., and Kelly Wayne Unruh and his wife, Diana, of Subletete, Kan.; his parents, Leslie and Gertrude Unruh, of Copeland, Kan.; one sister, Gina Joy Cash and her husband, Terry, of Copeland, Kan.; and four grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by two brothers, Wesley Wayne Unruh and Leslie "Rex" Unruh.
He was a lifetime resident of Copeland, Kan. He was a member of Copeland United Methodist Church, where he served on many committees. He had been Copeland mayor, on the Copeland City Council, a member of Lions Club and on the board of directors of Montezuma State Bank.
Funeral services were held at 10:30 a.m. today (Wednesday) in South Gray Junior High, Copeland, Kan., under direction of Haskell County Funeral Home, Sublette, Kan. Pastor Scharleen Cross conducted the services. Burial as at Copeland Cemetery, Copeland, Kan.
Contributions may be made to Central Crossing Fire Department (First Responders) or Copeland United Methodist Church.
