"Characters" honored at Purdy Elementary Purdy Elementary Principal Jeff Swadley announced character education medal winners for the month of December, 2009. Purdy's preschool through fourth grade teachers, in partnership with elementary counselor Gary Jurgensen, teach a different character trait each month. At the end of the month, each grade level nominates two students who best exemplify the trait presented. These students receive character medals from Swadley. Area businesses also display posters reinforcing each month's message. In December, students learned about generosity. Pictured above are the December. They include fourth graders Samantha Watson, Trenton Petit and Garrett Bennett; and third graders, Emma Harkey, Fernando Garcia and Conner Bennett; second graders Kaesha George, Tylar Martinez and Junior Garcia; first graders, Tatum Burt and Connie Lee; and Kindergartners Eli Webb, Levi Maddocks and Jeffery Kramer. Absent from the photo were preschooler Dakota Miller and first grader Lauren Schallert.
