Ellen Murial Kidwell, 87, of Cassville, passed away on Tuesday, March 9, 2010, at National Healthcare in Joplin. She was born on Oct. 1, 1922, daughter of William Oscar and Cora Ann (Swope) Kidwell in Port Orchard, Wash. As a young child, Ellen and her family moved to the Davis Hollow area in Cassville. She attended Quaker Rural School and graduated from Cassville High School in 1941. After graduating high school, she attended the Draughon's Business College in Springfield. Following college, she moved back to Cassville where she worked a short time at the Seven Valleys Cheese Co. She was employed by Bill Hailey Ford in 1943, where she was the bookkeeper, office manager, issued licenses at the first license office in Barry County and at times, even sold auto parts. She retired after 42 years of service, but continued some responsibilities part time for the next several years. Over the last several years she was co-owner and operator of Lou-Len Kennels in Cassville where she bred and raised Siberian Huskeys.
Surviving is a special friend and caregiver, Louise McCord, of Cassville. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by one brother, Gene Kidwell, and two sisters, Aletha Towe and Dorothy Allison.
Private family services will be held at a later date at the Corinth Cemetery in Cassville. In lieu of flowers the family ask that donations be made to the charity of your choice. paid
