Helen Elaine Hopperstead Wynns was born December 18, 1926, in Crystal Falls, Michigan, to the late Arnold M. and Bertha Hopperstead and died February 20, 2010, at her home in Tyler, Texas.

She had lived in Alpena from 1929 to 1942 when the family moved to Lansing. She graduated from Harper Hospital School of Nursing and moved to Anchorage, Alaska, where her husband was stationed in the Air Force. Later they moved to Austin, Texas, where she worked as a registered nurse for Brackenridge Hospital.

Upon retirement they moved to Exeter, Missouri. She served as president of the hospital auxiliary in Cassville, Missouri, and was a member of the United Methodist Church in Wheaton, Missouri. She moved to Tyler, Texas two years ago. She was preceded in death by her husband, Kelsey O. Wynns, retired Lieutenant Colonel.

Survivors include her sons, Kirk Wynns, Exeter, Missouri; and Kim Wynns, Anchorage, Alaska; her daughters, Karan Wynns, Spicewood, Texas; Kay Hanley, Tyler, Texas; and Karol Crow, Austin; Texas; and her sister, Carilon Carr and husband Jim, Grand Rapids, Michigan; 11 grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

Memorial services for Helen Wynns are scheduled for a later date in Tyler, Texas.
